3G Problems

Seems pretty random that this started happening to me. I haven't done any playing around with the phone in the past couple days and this issue started last night. My phone seems to be taking forever to get a 3g connection after switching wifi off or unlocking it after a while. I just timed it with the stopwatch and it took 1 min 25 seconds to get a 3g connection after i switched wifi off. This is very annoying as it used to be under 5 seconds. I tried going back to a CW restore point from a few days back and that did not seem to make a difference. Any suggestions on settings to check/things to do before I just do a factory reset?

After further research I've narrowed down the actual problem but still have not found a fix. Whenever I'm not on Wifi it takes 1-2 minutes to obtain a 3g connection. From there, as long as I have the little arrows next to the 3g icon in my notification bar the internet works. If I wait 30 seconds or so, the arrows go away and I just have a "D" as normal. The problem is, it will never go from the "D" back to the activity arrows if I try to use an internet app again. The 3g icon just goes away entirely and I have to wait the couple minutes to get it back. As you could imagine this is very annoying. I have tried every type of reset I can think of (factory, cw data wipe, flashing stock image) and nothing seems to work. I don't even have a reliable enough connection for Backup Assistant to sync my contacts in the setup wizard after a fresh install. This leads me to believe it is a hardware issue with the phone itself. I will most likely be taking the phone back in the morning for a replacement.

Took the phone back to Verizon today expecting a replacement.... an hour later they found somehow the data service was switched off on my phone line. So nice to have a properly working phone again and to know it wasn't my fault

I've had this happen to me once before a while back, and I know a couple people this has happened to as well. I don't know what they're doing over at Big Red, but whatever it is somehow some people are getting their data mysteriously just shut off/disabled for no particular reason.

Regardless, I'm glad you're back on track with everything!

Me too! Such a nice thing to find someone there that took the time to figure out the real problem instead of just another replacement like their usual gig.

Because of this, the first thing I usually recommend to my friends and such is to make sure their data didn't get mistakenly disabled for whatever reason, even if they're not on Verizon. If that's not the case then I go from there.

Very odd this happens...
