3gp file

When I record a 720d video in MP4 format It saves as a 3GP file on my SD card. Is any one else having this issue?

Best I can tell videos are recorded in 3gp regardless of what you select. That sucks!

Was this a problem before 2.2? I never really paid any attention. If they cannot fix this I for one, will not be very happy.
