3rd Party Call Record Apps SoonTo Be Gone

I never understood why anyone would use these apps other than for nefarious purposes.

Some may use it for nefarious reasons but I use a phone recording app solely for the purpose of many business, financial & medical calls. When a business promises something over the phone that could have a negative or financial impact on me, I want a record. Having family members (and being their health care proxy) with very critical health issues with lots of important & complicated info to remember and very important decisions to be made on treatments, I want to be able to refer back to it. Almost every financial business I am on the phone with starts with "this call may be recorded..." They record those calls because what is said could be legally binding. I want the same protection for many of those calls. Other than those situations, there wouldn't be a need but it is helpful when needed for those situations.

I can think of many valid legal reasons. Mainly to document verbal contracts made by employer to employee, landlord to tenant, business agreements, promises made by Google employees (tech support... self-explanatory ). In many states a verbal contract is as strong and valid as a written contract. Any recording made has to be done under the local laws regarding such recordings, such as the recorded party must be aware and consent, a recurring tone must be present so the called person is aware the call is being recorded, etc.

Beat me to it by 6 minutes.

Same for me tismydroid, I use a call recording app for those important calls that I know I won't remember especially call centre staff that make promises that are never kept.

Just have to remember, some states (most) it is legal with one party acceptance, other states (not many) it is illegal unless both parties accept. That is why a legit business will state in the beginning that the conversation is being recorded and the party has to accept. (Accepting any court order can negate the dual acceptance requirement.)

One of the more easier ways is buy a tape recorder then put on speaker phone and record your conversation if it really needed.
