Please forgive me if this has already been covered somewhere else in the forum (I did try to search but apparently didn't do a good enough job if there is another thread).

Just wondering what are the cons to purchasing 3rd party chargers other than it just taking longer to charge the phone?

1. damage to phone.
2. slow charge speed.
3. poor quality/durability.
4. poor design.

IMO - you just bought a $700 phone. spend the couple extra bucks and buy a quality OEM charger.

EVO will work just fine with Pre charger and the latest BB charger that have exactly the same micro USB connector. I have both and didn't experience any issues :)

I have OEM chargers for the Treo 800w, Treo Pro and Palm Pre, all are microUSB and fit the Evo perfectly. They all charge the battery to 100% just as fast as the Evo charger. You can also safely charge your Evo from any computer USB using the supplied cable or similar, but will take longer. On my car I am using the Pre charger, works good.

One thing I noticed missing on the Evo charger is the power output (volts and mAmp) information. Maybe is me, but I couldn't find it printed there as in other charge units.

Thank you much Gekko.

Is curious but the HTC charger that came in my "TV dinner box" has no UL sticker or power output info what so ever.

I do have both a blackberry and an HTC Mogul charger. If those will work, then I'll use one just to have an additional charger on hand.

personally - i like to always have 4 chargers on hand -

1. home - wall/USB - HTC OEM
2. office - wall - Sprint OEM
3. car - cigarette - Sprint OEM
4. travel bag - wall - Sprint OEM

I've got a Samsung micro-USB charger from a broken phone that works fine. And a Belkin USB cigarette adapter that works just fine. And an AC USB charger I bought a few years ago to work with iPods that's always worked fine with everything I've used it on.

Feel free to spend 3 times what you need to, if it makes you feel better. I'd avoid the $1 adapters you can find, but one from any reputable manufacturer will work fine.
