anyone getting insurance for their nexus 7? or do you know a good 3rd party insurance company that covers lost/stolen, water damage and crack screen for a resonable deductiable?

Asus has a 1 year, 1 time, accidental insurance claim that you are allowed. Some tablets are excluded, including tablets purchased from Wal- Mart, Gamestop, Best buy, and Costco online to name a few. I did not see Google Play store, so hopefully it's available to gp customers, since gp offers no extended warranty plans. There's a place to register your tablet on the Asus website. I am hoping that the Nexus 7 is covered. That would make purchasing it from Google's Play store, TOTALLY worth it! :)

I normally use Square Trade. I like them because it is relatively inexpensive ( about $60 for 2 years with Accidental Drops and Damage) and if you decide to cancel, you get prorated refund. If you sell your device you can transfer the warranty (increase the resale value) or cancel and prorated return.

My problem with square trade is that there is a deductible for every claim not just accidents.

I have used Squaretrade and have had good luck with them. They do not cover lost or stolen though. Also if you look around there should be discount codes on the web to help you save a few $$ on their warranties. That being said I am still undecided if I will get a warranty on my N7. I am interested in what Shai007 said about Asus possibly having an accidental warranty, if they do I will no add another to my N7.

I'm getting a square trade warranty- have used them before and they are excellent.

Its $49.99 for two years with accidental damage, $22.99 without the accidental

Do you know what the deductible is on that? I see on smartphones they raised from $50 to something like $92?

No deductible as far as I can tell. And usually if you google there is a coupon floating around out there.

This is not an expensive tablet so why insure it? There is a good chance you will never need the insurance, and if you do break your N7 your out a maximum of $249 for the 16g model. The N7 is really cool today, but it will quickly become an outdated electronic device that is hardly worth insuring. I am all for buying insurance for phones on a contract or tablets priced over $500, but it feels like the insurance company is the only winner when a N7 is insured.

There isn't one for this tablet.

I just got mine today because I finally received another promotional email for 30% off, which I was waiting on before purchasing since they come every few weeks when you sign up for their alerts.

I have them for the insurance on my laptop too. After accidentally smashing my screen, they fixed it within 7 days of me shipping it out. No Hassel, except their site wasn't updated in real time to the status. They people on the phone were very nice and helpful to, which is very rare these days.

For 30% code is March

Not sure if they are still active but worth a shot.
