Still the same issue. Overheating while using Google Maps/ Pandora/Netflix plus charging at the same time. I can use all of the above without charging. I do a lot of traveling. I use my phone as my way to get around. So the GPS usage is the most important while charging. I dont really watch Netflix much but its a way to make the symptom happen. 5 HTC phones and the Rezound is the only one that gets this hot. I have tried it without the case (as requested by HTC themselves) and with the screen on as low as possible. If this 3rd phone does it, VZW is going to exchange my phone for another model. Stock battery and HTC Ext.

All my other HTC phones can do the above so please dont mention buy a separate GPS.

Forget doing a video call and charging. That overheats real fast. If its a feature the phone has, it should work without an issue. This phone cannot stream data/ maintain the screen on/ charge at the same time.

The Rezound does get pretty hot. Some people have an artificial limit on how hot is too hot, but I say if it's too hot for you, either keep exchanging until you get one that's cooler or change to a different phone.

Actually, I dont mind the hot as long as the phone/battery is designed to handle it. My issue is I have not been able to use the GPS and charge it at the same time. It overheats and stops charging the phone.

What do you mean by over heating? Warnings on the phone or just hotter than you like it.

The reason I ask is not to call you out, but rather to clarify because overheating more means it is hotter than it needs to be and it starts warning you. Too warm for you is probably lower than the overheating level though.

The rezound gets warm, not doubt about it. If you think too much so, then do what Mr Smith said. Are you keeping it in the sun on your dash? That will overheat any phone. You could cut a hole in the back lol. I have seen it done

Funny how I called Verizon and they said "we haven't received any complaints about the rezound overheating. It's just not a known issue, your probably running to many apps in the background." I told em my phone should not be getting up to 122 degrees. After 3 tech's told me 3 different things there sending me my 4th replacement rezound.

These phones pack a ton of stuff in a small package. Its impossible to make something like this and not generate some heat. So I don't have a problem holding a hot phone. As long as its not on fire. :-) My issue has been the phone not charging while in use and on the charger. I get the Amber/Green blinking light and the phone stops charging. Expected. If I stop what I am doing (IE Google Maps) it will slowly return back to normal temps and the phone will activate the charge again. My issue has been mostly I am driving using the GPS and it overheats. I have a cup holder/universal phone arm. Pretty neat. I rent a lot of cars so this this is perfect. Anyway, that means its usually in the center console tilted towards me. I have never had it stuck on the window yet. After a period of time it will stop charging the phone then the phone dies and then I am in the middle of nowhere needing directions cuz I have an overheated dead phone. Pretty comical. I sometimes put it in front of the AC vent and that works. Funny part is it usually comes around faster if I blow directly on the screen. Although, I am a little leery about that since I dont know what effects the rapid temp change might have on the screen. So I don't do that too often. Keep thinking about the hot rock you put in cold water when I was in science class 22 years ago. Requiring to unplug and plug it back in is not normal operation in my opinion. I don't want to settle. I usually deal with little imperfections. Non of them are perfect. This is just one I cannot tolerate.

I use the "Beautiful Disc" app. The status shows overheat when the lights blink. Gradually the charge will diminish if I leave it as is. Cant imagine that is healthy for the battery so 99% of the time I unplug it. The other 1% I haven't noticed it yet.

Really like this phone too. I like the size. I think any bigger is too big for what I do with it. Camera is awesome for a phone.

By the way, I tried it with this exact phone straight out of the box. No case. Stock Battery then Extended. I didn't download any apps or updates.

Was hoping it was "User Error" but I have read a lot of forums stating the same. Any change ICS might do something different just enough to keep it from overheating? Hot is fine. Just need it to keep charging. I know...fat chance. I think its hardware related.

I am going to try the dremel trick NoYankees is talking about. Cant believe I even typed that. I am from the NY area. (Places face in hands)

Just kidding by the way.

One more thing.....
If I am surfing the net for a good period of time and charging........same thing. I just unplug it.

1 thing I do to prolong it is.....turn off the screen when I am on long stretches of highway. Usually this works permanently. When I hear the chick flirting with me to turn somewhere, I turn it back on.
