No update for me yet ether - Orange HTC One S.

I have tried *#*#8498546#*#* to no avail.

Would be interested to see if anyone has - the orange site shows an update is available

i wonder if its been held up because of the new EE announcement today, get the new branding out to handsets. Although i expect that its just orange being as slow and rubbish as they usually are with updates

Not yet. They say a update is available on their support page, I called them about 2 weeks ago and they blamed HTC.

I think think someone at orange jumped the gun and posted the update info even though they haven't finalised it yet.

Asked Orange Helpers UK on twitter to look into this. This is the reply - 'Hi Stephen. This software may still be in testing and not yet released. I have checked this on our test device which is running 1.78.61.5 >and has no updates available. I will get the website updated to show the correct information. Thanks ^Chris

Really want this update because my phone keeps disconnecting from mobile data. Was hoping the update fixes these issues.

Interesting, I have had similar problems where there is no data and the notification bar is just displaying the "H" symbol with no traffic in either direction.
when I launch a page request in chrome it breifly changes to "3G" and then back to H again and gives an error. This useually goes away after a couple of hours or through a few restarts.

Does any of this tally up with the problems youve had?

Yes, very similar. I find I sometimes have a fast solid connection which suddenly stops. Every app will say an internet connection is required, or can't reach server etc etc. The 'H' symbol is shown, sometimes 3G. Selecting airplane mode for a few minutes and then switching back sometimes restores the connection but most often a reboot is required. I am concerned that my data connection could stop without my knowledge until I attempt to use an app, which means I won't receive essential business emails. May have to use my trusty BB9700 until this is resolved.

It did this using wi-fi too which seems odd, only once so far though. Also my wi-fi connection will drop and reconnect after a few seconds which is annoying.

Looks as though the software update should be available soon, it's just annoying when the Orange site says it's actually out when it clearly isn't.

Just thought I'd comment but slightly off topic. I've got a one s and also have not got the update on Vodafone with an unlocked phone which I'm not impressed with. Anyway...

In terms of the data issue you are having I suggest you ask for a new sim card. I had the same problem and spent ages going through resets and tests with Vodafone. In the end they issued me with a new sim card. Apparently the first sim I was using was designed for the iphone not just normal micro sim devices. Since I got the correct sim I have no problems with data connection at all. Hope this helps. Definitely worth trying.

Thanks for the info tipperal. I'll give orange a call and see what they have to say.

Sorry for going off topic.

Well, they told wellard they'd update the website 4 days ago, but no sign of that yet. And still no sign of the update. The website even has the wrong version number! It lists the latest version as 2.04.61.1 instead of 2.31.401.5...
As per normal, the helpers don't have a clue. When I asked about the update they told me there was a new version to update my phone to Ice Cream Sandwich!

I called customer services a few days ago and as soon as I mentioned update the guy said the One S should get ICS sometime soon lol. I gave up, what's the point.

Well I got through to Technical Support manager for Orange UK and he basically said that they knew the One S was getting Jelly Bean 4.1 so might not release this update even though i had explained to him that it was needed to fix my WiFi issues, then backtracked saying it was HTC who release it, then I actually showed him on HTC's website that they'd released it, then he said it was up to them to give to us, I then explained to him i had received confirmation from HTC technical support that they'd sent the update to Orange to verify and add their own stock to, The Orange Technical Manager flapped and said he'd had no word and i told him i would not be upgrading my phone with Orange ever again due to this poor service. Beter to get an unbranded phone for any Android devices, that's what i've learned these past 4 years, Orange are the worst for getting the update to the customer as fast as possible.

This is a good update. We've now got 'Signal Boost' and it appears to work very well. This is a feature I was missing as I had UMA on my BlackBerry; signal boost works just as well so far anyway.

Also tried Skype, works perfectly too, no more audio snap, crackle and pop.

I hope it fixes the other issues we've been experiencing.

Thats great man, Glad to see its rolling out.

Just check mine and it's not been pushed my way yet but fingers crossed!

Any smoothness improvements in sense 4.1?

Not really noticed much difference yet, not seen any lag. Probably not the best person to ask though as this is my first android, so couldn't compare against a phone without sense.

Like the menu button option and the signal boost. Haven't found the EA games thing yet, don't know what it is or where its supposed to be.

Really nice. At last bye bye menu bar. And Sense 4.1 is a lot smoother. Really surprised by the increase in graphics speed - almost everything noticeably slicker. Camera & Gallery have been improved the most. No negative comments yet. Well worth installing.
