I am not sure what point you are trying to make.

Motorola has committed to releasing the Photon update to 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in 4th quarter 2012 (Oct-Dec). Is it Jelly Bean (4.1)? No. But it will update the phone to the version that is pretty close, and that is fine. My phone still works great on 2.3.5, and will surely be even better with 4.0. Plus, if you really want 4.1, I am sure some developer will be able to put out a custom ROM.

Honestly, a phone that doesn't even have ics when jb dropped probably won't see jb...

Only phones I've seen do that much in way of updates was g1 (1.6, 2.0, 2.1), hero (2.0, 2.1, 2.2) and my optimus (2.1, 2.2, 2.3)

Honestly, ics is coming to this phone, but why demand more? Sprint hardly sold this phone... The store rep kept trying to push the e4gt when I bought this one.... I told them **** off and sell me the phone I want.

Sprint dropped the Photon from their line up. The only android global phone the now offer are real clunkers!

Hoping the Q is an international...

I swear if Motorola made the new Q a 'slider', as I have seen, I will flip a lid. I was waiting for a new Photon slate form just with beefed up specs including ICS and a GREAT camera.

Sadly... besides the fact that the Q looks like a slider... word on the forums I have seen is that the camera is lackluster. Totally bummed as I loved Motorola hardware builds. :(

I already have 4.1 on my mopho through CM10. There's a thread on the XDA Dev forum by Jokersax for his Joker's CM10 Beta 0.1.1 build.

It's just as stable as his CM9 release. I honestly can't find anything wrong with it other than the lack of MMS with the stock messaging, which is consistent with the prior releases. Also, Chrome doesn't work. Otherwise, everything works, including Google now.

I use MMS too much to switch it over ...

I use GoSMS to fix that. Surprisingly, I like GoSMS more than I thought I would. I tend to avoid getting apps that replace something I already have.

I can't remember which version I had. It took a bit of time to unlock it and root it, but it was my first time doing that.

You can research it on XDA.

I use chomp religiously, but I don't want to take a chance either way .

It's a ploy. First they say certain phones will get ICS or JB. Now they dont want to do the updates so not to get alot of people in an uproar and say screw Moto because they lied they will offer money to get you to their new phones. This is to see how much it'll cost them if they dont give us ICS or JB.

Ploy or no, I am willing to sign up. No loss if it is just to see how many people are interested. If they do pay up, all the better. I truly had no hope beyond ICS, and I wonder if that will be a go or no despite its listing on Motos site for Q4 2012. I had a Pre, so I am used to waiting! JB would just be bonus material.

I have nothing to lose by signing up. The Photon is likely to get ICS in a month or so. If the phone can handle ICS, it seems like the upgrade to JB would be a minor incremental thing. :)
