Android 4.3 is rolling out and we're still stuck on 4.1.2 and there seems to be no mention of the first generation Galaxy Note anywhere? Will we get any updates or are we stuck with 4.1.2 for the foreseeable future?

Welcome to Android Central. I think you're stuck with 4.1 :\ The Note 2 seems to be getting its last update with 4.3 so I doubt the original note would even get it. You can always flash a custom ROM if you need 4.3 for some reason

I would say the original Note should be upgraded to 4.4 Kitkat. All the forums, tech watchers and Google themselves are harping about how a smaller memory footprint is required to run 4.4-even on much older phones with only 512MB of RAM.That being the case isnt it ironic that Samsung is not interested in bringing their once flagship to the latest Android OS?Isnt it an obvious ploy by Samsung to keep us upgrading every year to their latest?
In countries like India we buy phones unsudsidized paying anywhere between $650-$800 to buy a phone and it is jus not possible for us to spend that kindof money on a yearly(or two) for a phone.Samsung,r u listening?

About the original Note getting updated to the latest OS,I think all Galaxy Note owners (I'm sure there are many) should come together in this forum(and other forums too thru members here)and demand Samsung to give us what our flagship devices deserve.C'mon,if KitKat4.4 is capable of running "perfectly" on a 512MB RAM,single core device, then y not the Galaxy Note?

I read somewhere online that Galaxy Nexus owners have got in touch with Google with a similar demand after Google left out their devices for the latest update.

i am also a galaxy note user. i also want next official update. note 2 also got 4.3 update and now galaxy grand has 4.2 update, then why samsung didn't give update to Galaxy Note?

The Galaxy Note is not going to get an official 4.4/Kitkat update. However, I'm running CM11 4.4.2 on my rooted GNote and it runs smooth. Consider rooting your devices if you want KitKat.

What is stopping you from rooting your phone? The Note is pretty easy to root

Or you can modify you current android 4.1.2 and port it to 4.3. That is what I have done. I have manually upgraded my Android and now I am running self made Samsung stock 4.3 android. Checkout Screenshots.

There are 4.3 ROMs for the Note. Just have to go to XDA forums and research on rooting.

I've achieved this by rooting. And I'm not interested in non-Samsung 4.3 ROM (Cyanogenmod and all). I am talking about Samsung official 4.3 update for N7000.

hi Akhil....i just want to know that your phone is rooted or unrooted ? or your phone is unrooted !!so how you udate official frimware 4.3 in note n7000
i just want know,....plzz rply me as soon as.

I went to backup my note today as I was going to do a reset as it has been acting goofy for a while now., Low and behold I got a firmware upgrade to Jelly Bean. I had to connecto to Kies to get it., I check for updates regularly in the phones setting but it always said I was up to date. Anyways I like JB, but still having some strange issues. Perhaps the phones knows there are newer better devices and wants to become a desk queen.

wooow... man :) This is modified original TW 4.3 from samsung? not theme? this is good new for all n7000 users. Which template did you use? Will you send me a link? All applications work correctly? Thanks...
