There have been numerous accounts of this... especially in the European 4.42 release... apparently HTC is telling people to do a factory reset if the problem persists. Seems to fix it for most people. It happened to me shortly after the 4.4.2 update (maybe 2 out of 10 outbound calls chose the speakerphone by default), so I did a factory reset, and I haven't seen it since.

I have an LG Spectrum 2. I understand different phone , but I just wanted to mention it. I'm not exactly sure if I'm looking in the right place but I don't believe my phone was updated since September of last year

On a side note an observation I made. I can not adjust the screen sensitivity and have never been. But I have noticed my phone is a bit more sensitive. When I am talking on the phone I have always had trouble hearing it. So my ear is always close to or touching the phone. Before the speaker phone problem this has never been an issue. After the issue I find that during a call all kinds of things happen. The most common things I see are as if I dragged down the top bar and tapped one of the buttons like blue tooth or NFC etc. I feel as though this never occurred before the issue began. Then I noticed that the button for the speaker phone is almost directly in the same spot as the call button and the answer button. SO MAYBE...when you answer the phone by pressing the button it registers a second pressing of the button which is the speaker phone button. Or something like that. Maybe you guys received an update for something after the 4.4.2 or with it that I received separately.

Looks like they just fixed the issue with Chrome also, so try installing the latest version and see if the issue is gone.
