4a 5g Verizon build to unlocked?

[Android Central Question]

I started with a Verizon sim when I got the 4a 5g and updated after. It now has a Verizon build but I've switched to TMobile. It won't update still.

Can I side load the ota unlocked over the Verizon build?

If I wait for the ota next week will it stay a Verizon build or load the unlocked version since I now have a TMO sim in it?

Yeah you can sideload the update or wait for the OTA

I'd go the sideload method. Had some prior issues (5g related) even though I got the Nov VZW update when I setup my new phone. It may have been because I had no sim in the phone. Put it in later. Was not getting the Dec update so I sideloaded it a coiuple days ago. That solved everything. The sideload ota file is *much* larger than the one you get directly over the air. I was thinking that this file may overwrite/update more than an ota file, thus getting you a "cleaner" system. Especially if you have switched carriers on your phone. I'm no expert in this, but the sideload did fix my issue so I'm thinking it updates your phone a little different than ota. It was also a lot quicker in rebooting the phone and "optimizing" apps.
