4G for Xoom starting in about 2 weeks...

Follow up: I spoke with a Verizon customer service manager today to request the two month credit on my Xoom data plan (as discussed in another thread). She was unable to give me the credit and indicated that Motorola was unable to get the LTE radio to function with the Chooser and that there would be an announcement in the coming days giving current owners a $100 rebate card, or an option of 20 percent off of the two year renewal cost of the Xoom 4G LTE (otherwise known as the Xoom 2) when it is released in late July.

Not sure how informed she was, perhaps even a disgruntled employee, but it is a good source of information so I thought I would pass it along.

Cheers.

If they do this I'll put that money toward a different tablet and never buy Motorola again. I love my Xoom but I'm tired of the bull****. Why don't we have SD card yet - and don't tell me about some rooting solution - I want an official motorola/google supported working SD card or its FAIL. Also - WTF is up with Netflix and Hulu...why no love for Honeycomb tablets? I don't get it.

+1 to this!

I don't understand all the hype behind the Galaxy 10.1. I have a friend who has one and compared it to my Xoom. The UI responsiveness and speed is the exact same as the Xoom. There is only a single proprietary plug for all devices (that you have to buy special adapters for) and it does not have an SD card....

The Toshiba Thrive is starting to look pretty good. Full size SD card + full size USB port with host. With all those storage options I'd be happy with the 16 gig version as well.

I can't wait for this 4G to hit! Then the Galaxy tab will have nothing on the Xoom :D

I was saying the same thing, the only and I mean the only plus would be the thinness of the device. But I've noticed with the Galaxy tab 10.1 being so thin you have to give up the ports because they are thicker. That is not a plus to me. The Xoom is actually the perfect size and weight for what it offers. Now if a new xoom 4g lte comes out, I'm sure it would clearly be the best tablet out

I hope that's not true because a $100.00 rebate or a 20% rebate on the next xoom 2 won't be enough for me.

screw $100. Take back my Xoom and just give me 4G Xoom for half the price. I love my Xoom, I would never sell it. But if they are going to bail on Verizon Xoom owners and release 4G enabled one (without giving us the upgrade), people are not going to be happy.

Called my rep today who I deal with for my account every time and he also told me next month I would get the 4G upgrade. he even said something about how they have been emailing people on the upgrade. I told him I never received an email yet but he said they have been going out.

My rep told me the same thing this morning, then I got an e-mail this afternoon that hinted at two weeks. I got rid of my IPad for the Xoom and I'll stick it out until the end of summer if I have to. I've tasted the greener grass on the other side and its not as sweet!
