4G in Columbia, SC!!!!???

I keep checking my phone with my fingers crossed and hoping I see that 4G LTE logo but no dice yet. May just have to take a trip to the parents this weekend to test it out in Wilmington if the switch doesn't get flipped in Raleigh.

I hate the fact that Savannah isn't getting 4G anytime soon....but I have to go to a wedding in Columbia on Friday, and this will make it almost worth it.

It seems to be best connection in the NorthEast area. I work on Fort Jackson and have been testing it and it has been switching a lot between 3and4G. However, at home last night when I started this I had straightup 4G and man is it fast.:)

Ok, so I was curious as to how fast the 4G really is and did a speed test on 3G. here are the results:

3G
Ping---143ms
Download---1.48mbps
Upload---.81mbps

4G
Ping---105ms
Download---12.59mbps
Upload---5.41mbps

I was at the Verizon store in Lexington, SC playing with a Thunderbolt and saw the active 4G for myself. I ordered mine online last night and it will hopefully be in my hands tomorrow! I noticed areas near where I live on the list... so hopefully I will get at least some of the 4G goodness at my house.

And now it's off...Does anyone know if they do tests and stuff before actually turning it on? Or was it just a mistake that I had it?

They do tests. Dayton posters have been getting LTE on and off for the last 2 weeks or so.

I was really hoping the Greenville/Spartanburg area would have been picked. O well guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer :(

Since reading about that tweet from Verizon saying they will turning 4G on in a lot of cities I turned my 4G back on and sure enough I see the 4GLTE right there!!!! Someone here please tell me I'm not dreaming.:D:D

I was shocked to see it pop on the other morning...man it is blazing fast... I still remember when vzw first started deploying 3g and how that was just sooo fast...only 5 years ago..

I get 4g in northeast Columbia, haven't been over to st.andrews/irmo this week so I don't know if they are live yet. It doesn't work in blythewood up near my house yet.

Now that is weird. I live right off of Killian Road and I get it just fine at my house and I'm only about a mile away.

Just got mine today!!! I get no 3g coverage but am getting 10-15 mbps downloads and 2-5 mbps uploads on 4g at my house!

It works fine on Killian (I work @ the Toyota dealer there) I actually live closer to Ridgeway about 10 miles north of Killian on I-77..no 4G there yet
