Tower upgrade to 4g is happening now in San Martin California which covers South San Jose, Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy (maybe Hollister). Over the past week 4g has popped in and out (mostly out) but today I'm getting a solid 4g connection for extended hours.

Just for fun I called the Gilroy Verizon to confirm and he did in fact confirm but the upgrade stillisnt complete but likely by the end of Nov.

:-$

Hopefully this improves the Milpitas area which is a little weak...but I still get kickass speeds even on 1-2 bars.

Yeah, here in Santa Barbara it's great. Good reception in most of Santa Barbara, but I live more near Goleta and go to school in Goleta, which has so-so reception, but still amazing speeds. Hopefully they'll put a tower closer to Goleta so I can get better reception at school/while in Goleta ;).

Interesting. I'm traveling to SF in a few weeks, will be curious to see how 4G is there generally. My brother ended up moving off Verizon altogether because he had issues gett (3G) service.

In Metro Detroit I rarely see my 4G drop below 3 bars, and never below 2. Then again, it's not nearly as densely populated and the goegraphy is pretty basic.

On a whole how is the bay area 4G?

You should be in good shape in SF. The Eastern side of the Peninsula, Santa Clara Valley, San Jose and the Santa Cruz coast all have pretty good 4g coverage. This upgrade should be a very nice bridge to the Monterey area as well stretching 4g from SF to Monterey Bay to about 30 miles inland from the Coast. IIRC the Half Moon Bay area along the coast is still a hole.
