4G Not Connecting - St. Louis

Got my new EVO yesterday, which I love so far. Only problem, I can't connect to 4G. The coverage map shows that I can get coverage outside my home and that my neighbor can get it inside. Gosh I was hoping that I would still get it inside anyway, but that's a gamble and it didn't pay off. (It locked on for about 20 seconds) So I go outside on the porch, no luck, go up the street, no luck. I realize it may be spotty. Took it to breakfast this morning to an area that is clearly in a 4G area, surrounded. I've turned the phone off and back on, toggled 4G off and on. Still no luck. Any other suggestions?

I love the phone so far, I have a palm pre as well and so far like it about the same, love the cards on the pre and the size of the pre, but like the availability of android apps much better.

It is interesting how your experience mirrors mine. On the fourth day of ownership I had 4g, but the first 3 days I did not. I did a full reset on mine, but I doubt that was the cause for 4g showing up. There is an app that actually gives a real time view of actual tower locations and where you should and should not see 4g. My mind is drawing a blank right now, but I will tell you when I remember. :)

EDIT - Sensorly is the apps name ;)

Leave the 4G on and let it sit still and see if it connects. When I start moving around I lose the signal.

I think that the update that came out around the beginning of July hindered 4G connectivity. When I tried the EVO when 4G first launched, I could get 4G in my area. Now I can't. Hell, I couldn't even get a 4G connection when I was in downtown St. Louis.

I'm from the 314 and was just there, I was surprised where I could and could not get a 4G signal...

I was ok in Clayton and south county, but Dogtown had no signal...go figure. It seems pretty hit and miss.

I spent the prior week in Chicago, where the 4G was pretty solid downtown, but I noticed that the speed were much faster there. I was getting 4k pretty consistently, most I peak at in STL was 2.3, normally hovering around 1.8. Maybe they built in the additional bandwith for more subscribers (who aren't there yet)?

ummm i live in 314 and i always have 4g n im rooted so.........when u say k do u means mb? or kb? i have a constant2mb n peak of 8 as i tethered my computer
