Hi All;

I've done a fair bit of research on this and I can't find an answer so here goes. I have the HTC One M9 from VZW and I notice that when I am on Wi-Fi and have my data plan disabled, I am still seeing the 4G icon in the notification bar at the top of the screen. I'd like to disable the icon when 4G isn't in use. On all the other smartphones and 4G devices, the icon goes away when the Data plan is disable / disconnected, but not on the M9.

What I've already done:

  1. Disable my Data Plan (confirmed after restart. I've been prompted that I am not using the data plan)
  2. Disable Caller ID from the app manager (some people indicated that this was the cause, it isn't apparently in this case)
  3. Removed or disabled any bloatware that may be trying to use data
  4. confirmed that remaining apps are set to use wi-fi versus data if the option is presented

What am I missing? Does anyone know of a solution?

Thanks!

I don't think VWS offers wifi calling but I'm on sprint and as soon as I activate wifi calling the LTE and it's symbol are gone.

And if you read in settings at mobile data : uses mobile data when wifi not available. Now I've found with a PRL update my LTE icon stays on when I'm connected to wifi calling. But as long as the wheel isn't spinning I'm not using mobile data.
