So today is the first official day of 4G in NYC, as well as New Brunswick and Trenton.

I looked at the coverage map this morning, and wouldn't you know it, the coverage area is like a donut. And where I live is the donut hole. It was nice to notice the little 4G indicator while stopped at traffic lights on the way home but then when I got near the house, POOF, gone!

Maybe someday...

Sprint says that the 4G towers were just turned on in NYC.

Users have been mapping the real coverage since last summer. Here is one of the threads: New York

Sprint says 61 cities have 4G. Users have mapped 4G in 153 cities so far.

Check out the Sensorly app to see your block-by-block coverage. Sensorly maps coverage as users drive. The Sensorly.com online maps has few zoom levels but you will get the idea.

Just a mention, Sensorly is hardly infalliable. It has my entire area's 4G coverage wrong, often VERY wrong (over months old data, etc).

One more month for me...unless if the same thing happens, but I doubt it since I live near LAX. I wish the best of luck to you as 4g is indeed really nice!

4G just lags my phone & drains my battery. Only really use it for wifi hotspot if I need to and even then leave it plugged in via USB so I have more than seconds of batter life (rooted wifi tether btw). Don't do much video chatting cause I'm the only "cool kid" I know w/ front facing camera :P and all my video streaming apps do just fine over 3G (hacked NFL app we used to have that moved to VZW got the h4x and is back on my phone w00t! Who Dat!!!).
Boston here...

I find it really strange with the 4g lag because many of our members reported it. Strangely enough, I tested both my Evo and my friend's Evo and we don't seem to have this issue.

I'm running stock 3.29 with the #10 kernel from the 3.30 pre-release...
Think your Netarchy has anything to do with it?
(in my best nerd voice) "Or maybe your EVO is already running like the dooks and you don't notice it when you turn 4G on, ha!" jk ;-)
I've heard both as well...
Also noticed my data sync (fb for htc, twitter, google, weather, etc.) has been hanging lately... total drag on my battery
any tips on the last point?
topic drift... I know

My Evo tasted 4g for the first time this past weekend in Westchester, OH. I must say it was simply amazing...no lag and blazing. I hated leaving it to go back to a state that has yet to perfect 3g (KY)!

I tested mine in LA on Sunday and I got 4.57mbs down and 1.06 up.

It seemed to have a second of lag but was hella fast when transfering data.

Lucky, :( I live in southern OC and can't get anything from LA or N OC. If i want 4G ild have too drive up north a bit.

There is still time before it becomes official, hope it reaches all of OC.

Where I work in NJ I get a strong 4G signal. But, where I live in West Philadelphia, I get a very weak 4G signal.

At least your surrounded. I don't see or hear any signs of 4g in Indianapolis In.

4g appears to be up and running in Upland Ca but the signal is pretty weak. I hope they are just testing a couple more sites before it goes live December 1st.

I was told by Sprint that it's not in L.A. yet, though with it on, I've noticed it will get it sometimes.
