4G upgrade

The 4G upgrade is an antenna hardware upgrade. Since the Wifi only version pulls data using WiFi and not 3G, the 4G upgrade would not happen. I may be wrong, but I dont believe there is even a 3G antenna in the WiFi only ones to upgrade.

Nope, there is no 3G antenna, nor can one be installed.

thanks for your quick response...helped me understand technical issues

Just to make it more clear: The WIFI version is only WIFI capable. It can only be used to access the net when in range of a WIFI hotspot. The 3G model also has WIFI capabillity and can access WIFI hotspots as well. The 3G radio can access the Verizon network anywhere there is a cellular signal provided by Verizon Wireless and with a service agreement. The 4G upgrade would remove the 3G module and replace it with a 4G module to allow the Xoom to access the web at much higher speeds in a 4G coverage area. It will not affect the WIFI module or make it any slower or faster than it is now on WIFI. In order to qualify for the 4G upgrade you would have to purchase a 3G model.:)

The 3G radio will stay on place and operate alongside the 4G radio...so you have both. It's essentially a modem that needs to be installed.

If they were upgrading WiFi only XOOMs (which Ink sure they will not) it would make a huge difference because then it serious have the ability to connect to 4G. Alas, that will never happen because the WiFi only XOOM is, well...WiFi only.
