Will the Dinc see 4G LTE? My guess is yes since the EVO has 4G and necessarily the same phone just with a larger screen.

I would say so, since a Gesture Search revealed a 4G setting on the Incredible. :-)

I do not like linking to other Android sites, but here.

I wouldn't hold your breath. The Incredible does not have the hardware (LTE radio) to even get a LTE signal. So no, it will not.

You also have to look at Verizon's aspect. Would they sell an LTE compatible device 1 year before the LTE rollout and not charge a premium on the device? Nope. You have to buy a LTE device to have it run on the LTE network.

In no way shape or form will the Incredible get a LTE signal as is.

Hmm....maybe as a hardware add-on? I agree, it definitely wouldn't be free, and would necesitate a hardware swap, but for a flagship phone which is still technically relevant, I wouldn't consider it out of the realm of possibility.

I'm betting we'll see and "Incredible HD" or "Incredible LTE" that is a reasonable yet more refined facsimile of the Evo. Forward facing camera and all...

Rugby is right. Look for LTE phones in the 4th/1st quarter. Maybe even Q2!

That's my guess. I'm hoping they introduce an Incredible LTE that fixes some of the original Incredible's shortcomings (e.g. put the USB port on the bottom, better display performance in bright sunlight) plus has LTE. It's my hope that Verizon will reward early Incredible adopters with a heavily discounted price. Hey, I can dream!

Why would I reward you with a discount when I knew you will pay full retail just to get your hands on a 4G Dinc.

Bwah ha ha ha...........

Sprint 4G (WiMax) is different than Verizon 4G (LTE), so you can't make that comparison. My understanding is that the hardware required for the new Verizon LTE is simply not in the Incredible.

I got a 1 year contract, though, for just this reason. I'm eligible in March.

LOL. I'm sorry . . . but that was funnyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. The only reward we'll get from VZW is the full-price option if we even TRY to switch to LTE in 2011 (assuming you have a 2-year contract, like me).

I wish I had been that smart.

Other friends have asked for my suggestion on smartphones. My #1 suggestion to all of them: wait for LTE; then, talk to me.

I did the same. Except I got the 2 year pricing for a 1 year contract. Been with Verizon for so long and spend so much every month that they give me special pricing sometimes. They better for my LTE phone!! haha

What about the Verizon iPhone coming either end of this year or early next year?

Nothing to say about that. No reason to. Everything is speculation anyways. I'm sticking with Android (w/ google) for as long as i can see.

Well put Lord Verizon. May the Farce be with you. :D

You can have your fruity phone... I like the fact that Jobs isn't in control of what content I can have on my phone.

Screw the iPhone , I'll never buy one of Steve Jobs's locked down
id10t devices !!
Anyway...

I'm confused about LTE... isn't it the same frequencies but using a new and more
efficient packet protocol ???
If so, the same radio can be used with a software upgrade.

LTE isn't and can't be just a software update and it's not going to be. LTE runs on a GSM network where as everything else Verizon runs on is CDMA (1X & 3G). Any phone that has LTE will and must have an LTE SIM card installed. There is no way/chance the Incredible will ever ever get 4G as it lacks the supporting hardware and ability to even have a SIM card put in the phone. This is all coming from a Verizon employee btw :p

EDIT: And by the way Sprints 4G is COMPLETELY different from Verizons. For example the EVOs 4G would not ever be able to run on Verizons 4G. k. done for realz now. sorry if I'm coming off as a ****** lol
