5.0.1 won't install

I got the lollipop 5.0.1 system update for my nexus 5 but it won't install because of the custom recovery I have, is there any way to fix this? I would rather not flash the update and wipe all my data

If you are rooted, the OTA update usually will not install.
Can you return to stock, get the update and re-root w/o wiping the device?
