Will I have to notify Att when I get S22 ultra to activate my plan to 5g?

If your plan doesn't already have 5G, then you will have to upgrade the plan; otherwise if your on an old plan, if you pop in the sim, it will only get ya LTE

I don't know what current plans are but if you are not on a 5G plan then you will have to call and upgrade your service to a 5G plan.

When I got my N20U and daughter got her 13 Pro, we had to upgrade our plan.

Which I do, so it will automatically show up as 5g on the phone?

No, it wont because you don't have a 5G plan; you have to upgrade the plan to get 5G. However, because you bought the phone outright, you aren't forced to upgrade the plan but that doesn't mean you'll automatically get 5G service.

Verizon must be different. When I turn off WiFi at home I get the 5G instead of the 4LTE I used to get. I am on an unlimited talk and text plan and have not changed it in over 5 years.

They must have upgraded the plan you were on to include 5G and not noticeable until you got a 5G device.

Last time I looked, it appeared all unlimited Verizon plans offered sub 5g with more expensive plans offering C-band and mmWave.

I have tracfone which is a MVNO running off Verizon towers (and also owned by Verizon) and I have 5g and it was no additional cost.

Retg is correct, I am on a prepaid plan for at least 5 years and always buy my phones out right and just put the same Sim in all of them and always shows 5g
