5G?

Hey guys. I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 plus. T Mobile. I live outside of Tampa, and as far as I can tell, we don't have a 5G signal in this area. Yet today, I've noticed my phone shows the 5G icon at the top of the phone. Any idea why? Thanks for the help.

it is something phone companies are doing for whatever reason. I get it on my phone too and the closest 5G is over an hour away. there were several articles about it a couple of months ago about this.

Its TMobile low band 5g 600mhz. Its available in more places but doesn't have the higher speeds

I'm on T-Mobile with the same phone and have 5G where I live, about 80 miles south of you. I don't see any increase in speed over my LTE but do see more reliability, meaning I'm getting internet where I didn't before. Anyway, I was in Orlando and the LTE speeds there blew my 5G speeds here away. Good to know though that they're testing getting it further north as my house is about as far north as 5G on T-Mobile gets.
