My wife has a Pixel 3 and I have a Pixel 3a. I connected both phones to the 5GHz frequency and when I do speed tests, via speedtest.net and fast.com, the Pixel 3 gets much lower speeds than my Pixel 3a; the Pixel 3 gets ~35Mbps down and Pixel 3a gets ~100Mbps (I have a 100Mbps internet connection) from the same spot at home.
Can someone tell me why? I did the "forget" wifi network on the Pixel 3 and reconnected it but nothing changed.

Sometimes a case will have materials that can interfere with wireless signal. It usually won't happen with well-known brands, but cheaper cases from no-name manufacturers might unwittingly throw in some signal-blocking material (e.g., a case with a lot of bling on it). Worth just testing it without the case.
