It seems that when i get a text message (SMS) via an email send to phonenumber@vtext.com it comes to my phone as 6245. This causes one of two things to happen when i try to open the text message. Either it opens the last text message i received before receiving the email text message or it opens up a totally new blank message to the number 6245.

Does anybody have any ideas on a solution to this problem?

Found the same Issue but it is with Sprint not verizon. Here

That's an interesting one. My only suggestion would be to have the sender enter your actual email address rather than the vtext address.

is that person using a "cell phone short code" service to send you the texts?? edit, no... you say it's someone using their email to send the message to you... hmm.

it seems like that's the user name that it's being sent with... unless your sending these yourself as a test? Interesting problem.

Similar issue...

6245 is short for M-A-I-L, which is the e-mail to SMS system that Verizon uses. I don't know very much about it, but I receive a lot of automated messages that are e-mail based for my job and they all come in as 6245. It's creating a problem for me because I use Handcent SMS for my messaging on the HTC Eris... See my post about the problem I am experiencing here bbs.handcent.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1327

6245 is the gateway. You can't do anything about it as long as the sender is using the gateway. Best bet is to have the sender SMS or email you directly.
