64GB Sandisk SDXC: Any Issues?

Many purchased the Sandisk 64 GB cards, has anyone had any issues when transferring music files over? Did you format as FAT32 or exFAT?

I haven't had any issues with using it in my Sprint S III. I did not format it so it's exFAT.

Thanks for the link. After reading through that thread, I looked more closely at my exFAT 64GB and I see that I have the same issues as noted over at xda-developers. Based on that, I am reformatting my card to FAT32 and reloading it.

If there is an issue, and it's only with a few songs files, I would rather stay with exFAT. I like being able to xfer files larger than 2gb

That is normal for a formatted card. You can put the card in a card reader and view properties for it to see the formatting. I don't think formatting shows up with it mounted in the phone and connected to a PC (working from memory as I can't connect it to the PC I'm on at the moment).

I originally formatted the card exFAT using SDFormatter and loaded about 35GB of music using the SD card adapter directly in a Vista laptop.

The folders show up fine in Windows Explorer when the card and adapter are inserted in the laptop, the music player on the S III sees all the folders, and "My files" on the S III shows all the folders.

However, when the card is in the phone and attached to the laptop via USB only 11 folders show up (out of 860) in Windows Explorer.

I re-formatted the card in the phone and reloaded everything - same result.

I have replicated this on a 64-bit Win 7 laptop as well to eliminate the Vista laptop as the problem and have tried different USB cables with the S III. Both Vista and Win 7 have been patched for SDXC compatibility.

Everything shows the correct capacity/used/free space on the card.

This makes it extremely unwieldy for adding songs - the card has to be removed from the phone and used with the adapter directly in the laptop.

Any ideas ???

I have a 64GB Class 10 SDXC without any problems. I used the app FTPserver to transfer both music and video to the S III without issue. I transfered about 30GB of music to the card and 10GB of video.

In fact, transferring content to the S III over my wireless router is faster than a physical USB connection.

I left it formatted as exFAT.

I am running Win7-64Bit OS. Sandisk help desk was absolutely helpless. I am unable to format the disk, copy more than 32Gig, nor get rid of the "dirty bit" msg. After several hours on the phone with Sandisk tech support, they are going to send me a new SD Card - I am afraid it is not the SD Card. I had to backup my files to an external USB drive, take it to my XP machine, and copy from the USB drive to the SD Card. Works fine with MS XP but absolutely fails with Win 7-64Bit. Sandisk should know this and should have a remedy, never had a problem with Sandisk until now.

An SDXC card needs to be formatted exFat.
