I just installed 7.1.1 on my Verizon Pixel. I received the update OTA.
I'm quite confused about what to do right now. I was told repeatedly that Verizon would delay updates. Even a writer on this here site was vehement that nobody should get a Verizon Pixel. He wrote an article about it. When Verizon and Google both said there would be no delays on Verizon, he still said nobody should get a Verizon Pixel. When Verizon pushed the first update the same time Google did, he STILL said nobody should get a Verizon Pixel.
So many people said Verizon would delay updates, so should I call Verizon and tell them I got the OTA and ask them to take it back? I'm so confused.

I am in the process of getting the update on my Verizon Pixel.....why not just enjoy the goodness?

Well everyone lied. Verizon has a history of it which is why people kept saying that. It is obviously clear that they will have very minimal, if any, hand in the updates that will come out for the Pixel/Pixel XL.

Pretty sure after they announced that Verizon would be releasing updates at the same time as Google with no delay, they confirmed that Verizon would treat the update process identical to how they treat the Iphone update process.. which works great for me! Very pleased!! Loving this double tap to wake!!

People assume things to assert their "I know more than everyone else" genes. I'm sure Andrew will never touch upon the subject again.

Check WiFi Calling After Update

FYI, mine was turned off and I rely on it everyday since the VZW signal at my office sucks.

I noticed mine was turned off after the update. Good catch. It's surprising that it was turned off after the phone was updated.

Verizon it seems has stepped up their game with respect to updates on the Pixel and the Galaxy line. That doesn't negate Verizon's history with previous phones and updates. The biggest difference that I can see so far with "Vixels" versus Pixels is the unlocked bootloader on Google Store versions.

If you are a Verizon customer, and unlikely to leave them, then if the bootloader lock is unimportant to you, buy a Verizon phone. There are pros to doing that: If you are already a Verizon customer in good standing, you can use their payment plan, and avoid loading a credit card or dealing with Synchrony Bank (Google's finance company). You can choose Verizon's "insurance." Once the supply stabilizes, you can walk into a Verizon store and walk out with a replacement phone in many cases.

The pros for a Google Store model are the unlocked bootloader, avoiding Verizon if you want to (or may leave them before your phone is paid off), test driving Project Fi, and instant carrier independence.

Also, for Verizon, when I looked this morning, there are several stores with 128 GB Pixels in stock, while Google Store is again showing out of stock.

OTA for 7.1.1

I have a question if this would work. I have a Pixel and using on T-Mobile network. I didn't get the OTA update and I am thinking of putting VZ sim card on my Pixel to possibly get the 7.1.1 update. Anyone know whether this is possible or not? Or a good idea? Thanks!!!!

Mine was turned off after the update as well (GS pixel on VZW).

It's entirely possible that you would get the OTA. Keep in mind that you would get the Verizon specific build. Your phone may still work but could have some issues since you would be using it on a different carrier. Have you tried checking for the update manually? Or side loading the OTA?

Still very poor connectivity issues and lack of LTE with this update. Holding signal no better then before.
Time to switch phones I think

Re: OTA for 7.1.1

Thank you for the reply and suggestions. No I have not tried the sideload. I am fairly new to Android world and I use to Jailbreak my iPhones. I tried reading up on the side load method and I just don't feel comfortable doing it. I'm sure I can figure it out. Is side loading fairly easy to do and will possibly brick my phone if not done properly? Thank you!
