I would like a 7" Android Tablet for traveling. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is the right size, but I want Honeycomb OS 3.0. I would like firmware supplied by the hardware manufacturer. Are there any plans for a hardware manufacture Honeycomb OS 3.0 7" Android Tablet in the near future? Thanks, David

We don't have official word on any yet, but there will be some, rest assured.

Samsung, LG, Motorola, HTC and Dell are just 5 of the major manufacturers looking to score big in the tablet game. I think once the Flyer comes out by HTC (2.4), that even more people will see how attractive the 7-inch form factor is. I love my Galaxy Tab, but agree that 'official' Honeycomb would be amazing.

Dell is looking to put out a bunch of tablets this year with Honeycomb or even the next version (Ice Cream?), so they might actually be one of the first to do so, which would surprise everyone due to the lack of updated software their devices sport right now.

If I had to bet, I'd say Samsung just because they like to get their products out to the market before anyone else. Either way, there will be 7-inch tablets running Honeycomb soon!

Nook color.

Though it'll be nice when google releases the thing, and we can go beyond preview builds.

HTC did say that the Flyer will get Honeycomb and they're pretty quick with updates so it could be them although it may have a Sense overlay.

I think it would be funny if they still gave tablets the ability to use it as a phone as well(might as well its the only thing it doesnt do). Seeing all these fools walking around with giant 7in tablets to their ears, lol.

Samsung might have something for you at CTIA.
The are having an event called "78910".
There is speculation that could represent the tablets the will unveil, a 7", 8.9" and a 10".

So here's hoping.

I haven't had the chance to play with an Android tablet but do you guys really feel that 7" is really the sweet spot? I definitely think it is even more portable and convenient but isn't it a different type of experience?

I am split with my opinion due to a lack of usage with Android tablets but it will interesting to see which size prevails over the next year.

I think the 10" size is a good size, but the current weight is just a little too much. I'm not sure if 7" is the right size for me, but I do know they are much easier to handle. It'll be interesting to see what devices fill the gap between those two sizes (Samsung is supposed to have an 8.9" screen coming).

I know I like 7" much better than 9+. It might be worth looking at that 8ish one.

Imo, portability is the key function for a tablet. Where you want something bigger than your phone, but not quite a laptop. And the 9-10" tablets, you may as well get a netbook.

think about touting a paperback book vs a hardcover book. I much prefer paperbacks because they are much easier to bring with you. However, I'll admit I like hardcovers when I'm reading at home.

For me, personally, I think 7" is the sweet spot. Easy enough to carry around, but large enough to see more information on the screen.
