so im one of the lucky ones who have had no issues with froyo so far. BUT, today i was bored at work and decided to test out the 720p...... my phone went completely haywire for 15min! it would only take a 2sec clip then all hell broke lose. it was as slow as it could possibly be, lagging, glitching, resetting, apps disappearing then reappearing, and my processor was PINNED at 998MHz! after my 3rd reset it went back to normal. i am now afraid to try it again...

Bizarre. I shot about 25 minutes of HD over the weekend without a single hiccup. Where did you save the output?

That sound strange because I've used mine a few times without any problems. Let hope its a one time thing :)

Where did you save the output?
it was to the sd card. i tried it three times before i gave up and on the second attempt i noticed that there was no images on screen (record time, stop button etc) then it went black and the only way to recover was to press lock/unlock a few times until it decided to let me hold home and got to a different app then i could go to my home page. i tried this three times with no luck of doin any filming and on the third i felt the backin plate gettin hot. thats when i looked at system panel and noticed the processor was seized at max. i am afraid to try again.... :/

*edit* ok so I figured out the only 2sec of record time thing. I had record time on 1mb haha. Oops. But the rest is unexplained.

I would try again now that you turned off the 1MB record limit. I'm guessing those two settings (720p and 1MB cap) are completely incompatible.
