I noticed something a bit surprising recently. I've got 2 wireless access points in my house. One is g, one is n. I charge overnight in the room with the n router, so I connect to that when I plug in. Looking at my system panel logs, I noticed that cpu usage over night was really high. Finally dawned on me it could be the WiFi. Check the attached image. The first part of the cpu graph (from 7:00 to 7:40) is connected to 11n. The second part (from 7:45 to 8:30) is connected to 11g. In both cases, the phone was just sitting with the screen off. the spike at 8:00 was an alarm even that turned on the screen, and me responding to the alarm and doing a couple of other things.
Doesn't appear 11n would be a great option when you're running on battery.
