9999999999 number coming up for mms! Does anyone know why this is happening whenever someone sends me a pic its coming from this number and there is no pic just a bunch of strange characters show up. I havent had this problem until I just installed a custom rom the cyanogenmod-7-02182011-nightly-thunderc-xionia rom. This is the only problem I seem to be having with this rom right now. Any help is greatly appreciated!

i beleive theres an MMS problem on Virgin Mobile phones when using Optimus S-based custom ROMs. Something about the way APNs are hardcoded into the MMS system on virgin mobile. There is no workaround as far as i know.

LOL Thanks guess I gotta reflash something else any suggestions? Its a shame cause this rom is pretty sweet!

I don't think it can be fixed... VM has structred the MMS.apk in such a way that it will be nearly impossible for most people to fix...

Just use Gmail for sending pictures. You can send it to an "email" address instead of their phone numbers.

MMS Email Addresses

EDIT: I do think there is a way to fix sending, but not receiving. If your friends have smart phones(or even most dumbphones, I believe can send to email addresses) you can just have them send it to the google account that you set up for your phone.

Would it be possible to pull the stock Virgin MMS.apk and stick it in the CM7 .zip? I'm sure there would be some theming incompatibilities, but strictly from a functional standpoint...

Bumping this thread and wondering if there's anything new. I'm having this same problem, can send pics just fine. I really love Zeffie's CM7 ROM and would hate to switch to the stock Kernal.

Not to sound rude, but I'm really shocked people would flash a rom before reading what works and what doesn't...

You could brick your phone this way, and with the current shortage of these phones (and accompanying price raise), it hurts everyone when you brick it and return it.

LOL @ above... I'm not going to brick my phone, I know what I'm doing. I'm just hoping I don't have to go back to a stock Kernal.

This is a known problem and when you have an issue with a ROM you should check the thread for that particular rom :)

Yeah, maybe misunderstood me... I knew the problem is there, I'm wondering if anyone has heard any updates. I had heard someone was making a cm7 specifically for VM, but it's been awhile. Seems all the 2.3 made for sprint have this problem on VM.

That's because the MMS is done differently on VM than on S. On the aosp thread about their CM7 rom they posted that they are very close to fixing the MMS issue and are working hard to have an update that will.

My comment was directed at the OP... sorry for any confusion.
