Hey everyone a couple new Sprint towers went live in NW Indiana just south of Chicago. Yesterday i got an unexpected system update ota update from Sprint. After install i noticed my 4G on my Galaxy Nexus was lit up! Just did a speed test and an registering 4133kbps download and 2118kbps upload! This is in Hammond Indiana just across the Illinois/Chicago border. I took a screen shot but don't know how to post it here from my Galaxy Nexus...usually i do this stuff on my home computer. Lol... i called Sprint yesterday asking questions about this update and why my 4G was lit up making sure it wasn't a glitch. The tech didn't know anything of a ota update going out. Then she looked up the towers and told me 3 of 4 towers in my area just got finished and went live and that's why i got the update and its reading 4G.

I noticed a couple weeks ago when I drove through Hammond that my 4g lit up also, I didn't have any OTA updates or anything like that. I'm pretty sure they were one of Sprint's LTE test sites but I could be wrong.

On an LTE device or older wimax? Because my Samsung nexus s4G picked up wimax in Hammond. But when i got the galaxy nexus which is LTE i stayed in 3G until the other day.. and reception sucked the last couple weeks here. I'm not sure if it's just the towers are finished or the LTE is on also. Because if the LTE isn't fully on and I'm reading numbers like that then i can't wait for all of the Chicago land area to be finished. I drive all over Chicago for my job.
