A couple of question by noob who will root for the first time.

Hello.

I want to download an app that requires root access. I have the htc one developer edition, and its my first ever android smartphone. This will be the first time I root, and I have a couple of questions regarding rooting and unrooting.

-Is rooting safe?
-If I were to unroot, do I have to relock the bootloader to run the RUU?

I think thats for now. Im really sorry if I act like a complete noob, other than that, thank you in advance.

To be honest, things can go wrong while rooting. There's always the risk of bricking your phone in the process but that's only if you're not extremely careful. Before you do anything to your phone, read up on rooting and watch videos. Before I root any of my devices I read as much as I can and watch videos over and over. I don't like surprises when it comes to rooting. If you take your time to research it then you should be good to go.

I personally never unrooted any of my devices so I'm not 100% sure about this but from what I've read, yes.

I didn't write the post to scare you away from rooting. I've just seen a bunch of posts where something happened to people's phones during the process and when asked what they did the answer is sometimes "I don't know." Even I bricked one of my devices before and I can tall you first hand that it's not fun.....lol

I forgot to put one more question... To use the RUU I have relock the phone, can I unlock it back?

I think I found one more issue before I want to start rooting... Im going to unroot after rooting and to unroot I have to use RUU. I found out that it will work if the RUU version is above the software in my phone. The RUU in htcdev is 1.29.1540.16 but my device is 1.29.1540.17. Here is my question, will it work if i use that RUU?
