A different kind of charging issue

I have a wi-fi Xoom running Jelly Bean (version JZO54K) I'm not the original owner. It doesn't charge anymore. I'm thinking it's a software issue but wanted to get some other opinions.
Here are the facts/what I tried:
- I tried to to a reformat...no luck.
- The tablet and all other functions work fine.
- I tried using an original OEM charger (with the slim prong) and also tried charging via a Motorola dock. Both work b/c they charge our other Xoom just fine.
- The white light turns on as normal indicating it's charging but eventually turns off. There is NO increase in charge capacity. It never turns green.
- I've tried swapping out batteries that I know work. I have 3 other batteries (yes, I'm parts hoarding) that I know work and charge fully. But after they drain a bit, they won't charge in this Xoom.
- I took the battery that came with this Xoom and charged it in my other Xoom and IT DID CHARGE TO 100%. Once again, I don't feel it's the battery.
- The green light never comes on with this Xoom (as mentioned above)...even after leaving it charging overnight for at least 12 hours.
- I have tried putting a battery at 0% charge in there and then charging it fully for 12 hours...it stays at 0%.

Any ideas? Has anyone had an OS update mess with things?
Maybe putting an older OS will help things?

It sounds like the next obvious thing is the charging port. Software has nothing to do with the charging itself. It is hardware related. If it was software related it would work when dead or powered off, again if charging had anything to do with software.

I've never looked at the charging system on a tablet but there could be hardware beyond the port involved in charging.

Makes sense...the weird thing though is that when you charge the unit, the charging light does light and the battery icon shows charging...something's just not feeding power. And that port does connect to the computer.
I guess worst case is that it was worth the price I paid to get a mint case, mint digitizer and a working battery.

The charging port doesn't connect to the PC. With the light working, the trigger is working to show connection but the light doesn't change to indicate charging. Since you have a board, is the charging built in the main board or something connected to the charging port. Since charging is not done through the USB, my guess would be some thing connected to the port. Just guessing.
