So, my mother recently got a Droid X. And her being the least tech-savvy person I know, is struggling trying to get it to work. I try to teach her, but I'm a lousy teacher. I prefer to show her how its done, but I go too fast for her to catch up. She has some basics understood, like locking and unlocking the device, calls and text messages, using the browser, and handling her contacts (recovered from Backup Assistant... I know it causes problems, but she used it to move her contacts to a loaner world phone from her enV prior to a trip to Europe and figured she might as well use it on her shiny new smartphone). Beyond that, she's clueless. Personally, I'm surprised she got past the initial set-up.
Anyone know any good guides for a complete Android... nay, smartphone newb? The one on these boards is good, but it's very HTC-Sense centric. I need something more Motoblur.

Believe it or not, there's a community in Florida where the Parks & Rec Dept offers classes on Droid! Guess its not a simple as we may think!

Amazon has some (Droid X for Dummies), they are not free tho.

Yeah, if I didn't get any help from here, I was just going to see if a For Dummies book existed (as you verified, they do) and just buy that for her from Barnes & Noble as an early Christmas gift. (Although having just read through the Kindle sample chapter, it looks like it was written for Eclair instead of Froyo... ahh, the pains of printed media.)

Point her in the direction of this forum. There are some sticky threads that might help her, particularly the basic ones (especially from the time shortly after the X launched) or the thread on tips.
