A few features I'd like to see from HTC.... and Google.

For an operating system that is built on open-ness and customization, it seems rather odd that I can't customize the notification bar. Here is what I mean:

I have noticed that I have wifi on sometimes, bluetooth on all the time, NFC on all the time, etc. The issue is this all takes up space in the notification bar, and I am sure some of you will disagree, but I am kinda OCD when it comes to a messy and full notification bar. I really wish I could pick and choose what the notification bar shows.

For example, I could care less if the phone shows me 100% of the time if NFC is turned on or not. I know it is turned on because I use it and don't turn it off. I would like to have the option of removing that icon. Same with bluetooth. I use it all the time, so I know it is always on, as such, I don't need to have a consistent icon telling me that bluetooth is on all the time. Here is another one: the time. I have a clock on my HTC blinkfeed screen as well as my first home screen. I don't need two times on my screen, I would like the option to remove it. Really, for my uses, all I need is the battery and signal strength (and this is even arguable because I have great signal everywhere I go).

I would like the notification bar to be for notifications mostly, and to let me pick and choose what is there permanently. FOr the typical smartphone user, there should obviously be default as it is now: with the most information possible. But for people like me and you, who know our phones pretty well, I would think the option of displaying things or not displaying things on the notification bar should be available.

Or am I crazy?

Oh, and without root. I believe this should be baked in. (I don't root)

you can. become a software developer and create your own rom. have at it...others do. it is very open.

I speak on behalf of the typical consumer. It's like someone saying "my radiator needs fixing" and someone replying "oh just become a mechanic. Everyone does it. Anyone can learn to fix a car."

I frankly don't have the extra time :-) I already have my hobbies and software engineering isn't really in my to do list... Lol

There are apps that allow you to customize it.

I would recommend statusbar+, but its a paid app. They do have a 14 days trial app, though.
