My gf got a Droid last week. She really likes it but there are few things that are a bit wonky. I've searched for threads but have not seen any.

1) Even though the screen is set to shut off after thirt seconds, it stays on until it is put to sleep manually. this seems to be fixed for a while if I reboot the Droid. Is there another more permanent way to fix it?

2) She had Handscent and the OEM SMS client. However, it appears to randomly send out previously sent messages to her contacts. I received one from her the other day she had sent three days prior. One of her contacts just messaged her saying that she is getting all kinds of random texts from her. Is there a way to and should I close down the OEM SMS client?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have not had a problem with either issues and I am using handscent, the best solution I could think of is to uninstall handscent and reinstall it. As far as screen timeout I would look into maybe installed apps that could keep your screen from timeing out. Besides that just press the button every time it has become habit for me as I keep my phone in my pocket and that will not even be an issue. Enjoy the phone it is amazing.

you got some weird issues going on there... I'm stumped on the SMS thing. I like the idea ^^^^ of uninstall / reinstall. But, that doesn't address the issuer of why it did it in the firsrt place. Sorry, not much help I can give there.

RE: screen timeout... sounds like there is some sort of app that is keeping the screen on. Try this... when it's NOT going to sleep automatically, go into settings / applications / running applications and note all of the running apps. Any that are not stock and were downloaded may have some sort of "keep screen on" setting?. I know there's a few games and RSS readers that I have installed that keep screen on and ignore stock settings when they're open. Check that out first and then we'll go from there.

Me Too!

I too had and issue with my screen not going off. I thought it was just me, but I noticed it a few times. I didn't do anything about it and it seems to have stopped. BTW, I use Advanced Task Killer Free and keep all extraneous apps closed...
