A few questions about the rezound. First is by using less home screens does that make the phone run smoother or faster? Second is what does shutting off the animations or turning them up do for me? Third is what does changing the process do under developer options do for you. I didn't want to ask 3 different questions in the forums so I put them all in one.

I would say quantity of widgets is a bigger hit on performance that quantity of home screens. When you switch between home screens and into the app drawer, there is a little animations, it lets you shut that off. Some may say it makes the phone "faster"... I say bs. I think it gives it a bit of awesome. The last question I'm not sure what your asking. You talking about the background process? If so, that limits the amount of apps running in the background. It was a big deal when the OneX came out, cause people were pissed such a monster phone only kept 5 "things" open in the background. I'd say leave it alone.

1. Not that I have seen... I have run 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 home screens on the Rezound and never noticed any change in performance of the phone.
2. Shutting off animations can give some people the feeling of a "snappier" interface but others think it makes it jerky. It has little to no real effect on actual performance, it is just how it is perceived, try it each way and use it the way you like it best. Setting to 0.5x will make them seem faster (I tried it, didn't notice a huge difference), setting them to 1.5x or higher will slow down the animations making it seem slower and smoother. Just a personal preference thing.
3. Normally nothing, changing the number of background processes will change how many tasks the phone can run in the background at one time, unless you are running an extreme amount of background processes or have some that misbehave and you can't get rid of them, leave it at standard.
