A fresh root...now what...

Just rooted my evo...I used unrevoked 3...I also configured the hboot into the device manager.....what's next if you don't mind me asking?

I figure there is something else to do next...I have read sooooo much information its like nothing has stuck ya know...I have watched a ton of video too...I have figured out how to boot into clockwork 3.0.0.2....I know there is something to do next that involved putting pc36mod.zip on the SD card?!?!....I think....just a little fried from all this new information and new language I am Learning.....so far so good....just asking for a smiggent of help please

1. This is a pretty searchable item and therefore you will get yelled at for making this post (although I think the ROMS/hacks section is a little nicer than others) but my philosophy is the more posts the better.

2. SetCPU. I think this might be the biggest reason to root. It overclocks when your phone is on and UNDERCLOCKS when the screen is off. It makes incredible battery life.

3. Wireless tether. I use barnacle. Not super useful but in a pinch I have used it several times and it is pretty awesome. It feels weird using my netbook in a car with full internet.

4. Flash an AOSP rom, like cyanogen. I hate sense.

I would get titanium back up and ROM manager from the market... Then start backing up your App's with Titanium and use ROM manager to manage your different ROM's and back ups.... This way you can flip back and forth and figure out which you like the most....

Like above I at first didn't care for sense since my first android phone was the Nexus One... Pure vanilla android... Since I Have tried several Sense ROM's and Sense is okay.... But you can kind of swap back and forth if you want... Figure which one you really like the most... Only reason I didn't care for the non-sense ROM's is most of them didn't have 4G up and working (That might have changed)

SetCPU and Overclocking will only work with an OVERCLOCKABLE KERNEL

Ok...I like the overclocking idea...seems that if its fairly safe and won't shorten the overall life of the phone I'm with it...I think first it would be really good to get rode of the bloat once and for all....a buddy suggested terminal emulatorhe says it can be done with just the phone...no need to hook it up to the CPU and adb it...truthfully...I am a little scared oft the whole adb....lack of experience I guess...

EVO 4G Android Development - xda-developers have fun with stuff in there.

To remove the bloat, just flash a different rom - Maybe a less extreme rom like the http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-roms-hacks/49106-rom-rebirth-ac-rom-ashes.html or if youre up too it, try out Cyanogen if you can give up 4G and HDMI while on it. If not hit up Myn's or vaelpak.

Or to remove the bloat from your current rom, head to the sticky that tells ya how.

open TI do a batch backup app + data...once its done it saves it the TI folder on your sd card...i also copied it to my pc just for safety measure.

also make sure you do a nandroid backup in recovery.

backing up now....faily simple operation....experiance gains trust and comfort...lol....

ok this is alot simpler then i expected....i am doing a nandroid back up now....i sapose that will be saved to the sd card also? and i can drop it in my safe spot on my pc just like i did with the apps and data....we will see in about 30 secs......muhahahaha

oops sorry didnt see your reply...but ya its like puttin butter on bread once ya get the hang of it! and yes theres a nandroid folder on your sd card as well that i would copy to the pc as well!
