Gmail will not sync, so I cannot check email using the app. Everything that that should be checked to sync is checked.

Lock screen does not work (just want the swipe screen to appear when screen turns on, not have to enter a code or anything).

I want to turn "tap to turn on" feature for screen to go away...is that possible?

Bible app will not connect to Instagram anymore..Am not able to share photos from Bible to Instagram.

Home button only goes home after pressing the "windows" button on the right..

Notifications pull-down bar does not work, there are never any type of notifications there (texts, weather alerts, etc).

Does anyone have any input for these issues? I've tried updating the PRL, profile and system updates, rebooted, power cycled, checked, unchecked and rechecked all sync boxes.

I'm at a loss. Thank you!

Are you using the Gmail app or the stock Email app? Is Auto-Sync turned on in Settings>Accounts?

Do you mean that you want to double-tap the screen to make the screen turn off?

Do you still see a list of apps that you can share to, or does it automatically share to the same app each time?

Home button only goes home after pressing the "windows" button on the right..
Do you mean that you have to tap the Recent Apps button first, then the Home button? Or vice-versa?

Notifications pull-down bar does not work, there are never any type of notifications there (texts, weather alerts, etc).
Do you mean that the notification panel doesn't even come down, or that you never see any notifications there? Do you ever see notifications in the status bar?

Thanks for the reply!!

"Are you using the Gmail app or the stock Email app? Is Auto-Sync turned on in Settings>Accounts?"
I'm using the Gmail app, and yep, it's set to auto-sync. This has been an ongoing problem since I got the phone a week ago. My Gmail contacts would not sync, so I had to go back to Sprint and have them transfer the contacts from my old M7. Thank goodness they hadn't wiped it yet. Anything Google related, besides the Chrome browser, seems to not work.

Lock screen only works when I have the fingerprint set to be used as well. If I disable the fingerprint, the lock screen will not come on, even when it's set to "lock screen".

"Do you mean that you want to double-tap the screen to make the screen turn off?"
No no, lol. I want to be able to hold my phone without the screen coming on. If I don't enable the fingerprint, there is no lock screen so when the screen comes on while I'm just holding the phone all kinds of apps get pressed and whatnot. Drives me crazy.

"Do you still see a list of apps that you can share to, or does it automatically share to the same app each time?"
I see a list of apps. It's just that when I try to share a picture from my Bible app to Instagram, it tells me that it cannot load the photo. This was never an issue on my M7.

"Do you mean that you have to tap the Recent Apps button first, then the Home button? Or vice-versa?"
(Sorry, I didn't know what it was called, lol). Yes, the Recent Apps button. Home only goes to the home screen if I'm on the Recent Apps screen. It doesn't work anywhere else. The fingerprint won't take me to home either, even though it is set to.

"Do you mean that the notification panel doesn't even come down, or that you never see any notifications there? Do you ever see notifications in the status bar?"
I never get any notifications of any kind in the status bar, and sometimes I pull the notification panel down just to make sure there's nothing up there, and there's not. For example, the only way I know I have a text it my phone is on silent is the little number that pops up on the text message icon. In notification settings I have it set for anything to show up in the status bar, so I'm not sure what seems to be the problem. I feel like there's a piece of my phone not installed since I'm having all these seemingly simple issues.

Thanks again for your help! :D

Go to Settings>Accounts-Google>[your account]. Is everything there turned on for sync? Also, go to Setting>Data Usage and make sure you don't have Restrict Background Data turned on.

Lock screen only works when I have the fingerprint set to be used as well. If I disable the fingerprint, the lock screen will not come on, even when it's set to "lock screen".
So if you set it to Password or PIN, the lockscreen doesn't show up? It goes straight to the homescreen?

This might be due to some minor incompatibility of the Bible app or Instagram (more likely the former). You may want to email the Bible app developer about it. In the meantime, see what happens if you go to Settings>Apps, select the Bible app, and Clear Cache/Clear Data. Do the same with Instagram (but be aware that this will clear out any locally saved data, and you have to log back in again). Then try again.

Home only goes to the home screen if I'm on the Recent Apps screen. It doesn't work anywhere else. The fingerprint won't take me to home either, even though it is set to.
When you press Home from any other screen, then nothing happens at all?

This might also happen if you have Restrict Background Data turned on, as mentioned above.

One general troubleshooting step to try is to wipe the system cache partition, which won't erase any personal data. I think the steps for the M8 will work for the A9: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10672

I ended up doing a factory/master reset which resolved all of my issues. Thank you for all of your tips and suggestions!!
