My wife and I just upgraded phones. I upgraded from a Galaxy Nexus to a HTC One and she upgraded from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5. So we get our phones and the restoring begins. My HTC One's contacts and apps are restored and my photos and music are in the cloud and accessible. It just worked. However, her iPhone 5 did not. The contacts came in just fine but she had to reinstall her apps and worst of all, her photos are gone and nowhere to be found. I've never had an Apple product so I have no idea how the iCloud or the backups work on an iPhone but I thought Apple ?just worked?. From what I've gathered on other forums, it's a frequent problem and restoring the phone again will sometimes do the trick. Maybe some past iPhone users can chime in with some solutions on how to get these back easily without having to do that.

hmmm that's weird - apples icloud is probably the best cloud integration on any OS I have seen and heard about. Even on my S4 when I backed everything up and they replaced my S4 it was easy enough to get everything back to how it was but I had to go to the google play store and install every app from the "my app" page and tehn disable everything I didn't want used. Contact and photos were fine. same with Wi-Fi passwords etc
My partner on the other had has her iphone 5 replaced and in apple all they did was tick a couple of boxes and everything on her phone (including music and photos) back up in less that a few minutes. when she got her new one and singed in to the icloud on her phone everything started downloading with out her having to touch a thing. Apples icloud is Very Well Done indeed.

I dunno about getting lost photos back though - everything should be backed up to the cloud.

Maybe it had something to do with everybody and their brother downloading iOS7 last week. Also, now that you've mentioned it, she had to reenter her wi-fi passwords as well and I didn't. I wonder why your apps didn't download automatically to your S4. Mine started downloading right away.

hmmm I wouldn't have thought everyone downloading IOS7 would compromise her backup, but your right, if her Wi-Fi passwords are not saved it seems like it didn't work, so thats a good point. Also I am not sure why my apps didn't download automatically, and having over a 100 different apps that's a lot of times I had to press "install" lol.
