a little help

Im new to this forum and im having a little problem. after trying unsuccessfully to flash clockworkmod touch recovery to my samsung captivate, my phone won't recognize my sim card anymore. everything else works fine except i have no signal because the phone thinks there is no sim card in it. i've tried messing with the settings and rebooting the phone multiple times but it hasnt worked. any advice would be appreciated.
