Not that I'm happy with the GB hold up, but thought I post something different just for fun. Although, I am thrilled to see Jerry's latest info from his "Sprint ninja".

Okay, so just got back from a day of fishing in the mountains. What does that have to do with my Tech circle post? (Oh sorry, copied it from my Google+ post.) Well, in my excitement of hooking a very nice trout I forgot to zip up my pocket after the photo op. Uh-huh, you got it, PLOP, as I bent over to released him. My Samsung Epic 4G took a quick dip in a very cold stream.

What a terrible twist of emotion it was. Thank goodness the sun was out so I can dry the phone on the bank some. I scrambled to pulled out the battery and as I slid open the keyboard, I can hear the terrible scratching noises. Arg!! Sand within the slider mechanism. One good thing, the little slide cover for the micro-USB port was closed because it was caked with sand (thank you Samsung for that).

I spread out all the pieces in the car and fished the rest of the day. At the end of the day, I took it to the bathroom at the park under the hand dryer for a few. Prayed real hard as I put it together and turned it on.

Hallelujah!!!! Saved. (Now I gotta follow through with some promises to the Man upstairs.) :p

BTW, not a scratch on the screen at all either (no cover).

Nice... You had a horse shoe, lucky clover, something nearby? LOL...

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. My daughter was bombarded with water balloons at a party. We did the same as you. Even let it sit under a bed of rice for two days. It worked great for about two weeks. Then it did what it was supposed to do. Die... Lucky I had insurance as the circuit card was ate up with corrosion.

Noooooo...Was it an Epic? I've actually have done it before with my prior phone, Samsung Instinct, and it actually held up find months after. I really hope my Epic is fine. :-\

One time my dishwasher broke and spewed water all over the kitchen floor. While cleaning it up, plop, crash, down drops my blackberry into my bucket I was wringing the water out in. (it was a dishwasher/sink plumbing disaster).

Rice treatment for 48 hours and the thing still runs, almost a year later.

Your mileage may vary. Sometimes they work fine after a swim, sometimes they fry. Just make sure it is completely dry before putting the battery in.

(and this is why I keep old phones and why I have insurance.)

I once dropped my phone in the toilet (thankfully clean water) dried it out tried to turn it on and nothing. A week later my phone was sitting on my desk and just turned on...weird lol
