My flip phone was much easier to make phone calls with. I just flipped it open, pushed a speed dial number, and hit send. The phone began ringing.

With the way my new phone is, I have to key in the speed dial number, then click on the actual phone number that is connected to the 1 or 2-digit speed dial, and then click on the green phone icon to place the call.

Is there a way to cut out the middle step so I can just punch in the speed dial number and then click on the green phone icon?

If you Long press any number then 1 in the dial pass that is how you set up speed dial.

In the s3 You can have up to 99 speed dial

I've already assigned phone numbers with a speed dial number. So, when I press (for example) 10 and then send, the call doesn't go through. I have to press 10, then the actual phone number assigned to 10 appears, and I have to press the actual number that appeared.

Shouldn't the process of speed dial be just like the flip -- in other words, hit the speed dial number and then the green phone icon?

if the speed dial is 10, than hit 1 than push and hold 0 and it should call that number. it will vibrate to let u know its dialing the #

i dont have the note2, but i have the gs3, but it should still be the same

Or you could bring up the favorites widget and just select who you want to call. Put it on one of the home screens and go from there.
