A thread grounded in speculation--Wiimote?

I've been investigating android phones for awhile now, and I think I'm about ready to jump on the bandwagon.

I was reading about an app that makes it capable to sync certain phones with wiimotes; from what I've gathered, it seems that Sense makes this non-operational.

I was just curious as to whether or not you think the bluetooth issue would be addressed for this phone (updated sense, hardware, etc)? Either way, I have a feeling I'm going to be getting one of these when it comes out anyways.

Thanks for (non-hostile) responses!

Yeah I researched the use of the Wiimote also looks like the only way to get it to work with htc handsets is by rooting it.

Hopefully with the new sense that wont be needed anymore :)

I've tried rooting and installing a "senseless" rom and still no dice. I think it is a hardware issue. If anyone knows of a rom that makes this possible with an HTC please speak up!!!

My only other theory is it might require a custom kernel, but I haven't found one yet that works...

you piqued my curiosity.. what exactly were you going to do with the wiimote? you mean like using your phone AS a wiimote? or something else?

You can button map buttons to the wiimote and use it for emulators. Using the kickstand and playing some classic NES games sounds like an ultimate nerd-out dream come true.

Of course, being a dirty college student I'm going to be selling a bunch of bad horror movies and video games for this phone, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Kickstand+wiimote sounds like something out of my wildest fantasies.

Welcome to HTC Sense.

HTC doesn't use a standard Bluetooth stack, which causes some issues with some Bluetooth pairings. The Bluetooth stack is embeded pretty deeply into sense, so even rooted sense roms will not work.

A pure AOSP rom with a replaced Bluetooth stack may be your only option. I only say that because I don't see HTC updating that until Bluetooth 3.0
