A ton of data today, Anyone else Notice it?

Normally my Droid can last an entire day, EASILY. But today was a bit different.

In six hours time, my batter went from full, to 10%. Now I didn't have wifi, or gps or anything like that on. And made one 30 second phone call. I was not roaming, or had poor signal. I didn't even use it, minus checking the time.

But what I did notice when checking the time was my 3G was pushing tremendous amounts of data for some reason ( I didn't tell it to). Could this be the anticipated update many of us look forward to starting to come down?

Did anyone else notice their Droid using lots and lots of data on its own today as well?

Yesterday my battery went down to 15% in about two hours. I charged it up, and it was at 90% when I plugged it in before going to sleep last night. I'm not sure what happened. I haven't changed any apps or used the phone any differently than usual, and I usually have 60-70% battery life left at the end of the day when I charge it.

Hmmm... come to think of it, I remember waking up last night for a second and my phone was next to me and was hot. The battery was dead as a doornail this morning. I forgot about it until you brought it up. Maybe they are pushing something out to us!

My battery was extremely hot yesterday as well. And it certainly drained my battery as well. Now it seems to be fine.

Well data was being pushed, thats for sure.
The question is, what kind?
Obviously there will be much more if its the 2.1 update.
And we are falling within the time-frame for the update.

Have you guys checked the multi-touch for the browser or gallery yet? remember they were supposed to release those to the Droid users so that may be a possibility. You never know until you check. :)

That would be ALL over the forums and sites if that happened.

Battery Use

See if anything in there has been sucking up the juice.

See, thats the whole point of the post. Nothing sucking the battery dry other than data packets. Thusly I assume it's an update.

Same thing happened to me when 2.0.1 hit.

I did not notice anything, but then again my phone was shut off last night (away from a charger, trying to save battery), and on my dock most of the day.

Edit: I have noticed that I have dropped 3G randomly this week, with no pattern, but I am sure that is a different problem.

I've been having the 3G drop issue as well. Any idea of what it is?

I've noticed this phenomenon from time to time on several different smart phones. I always chalked it up to something running in the background or a program that didn't complete shut down. When I notice my battery draining at a much higher rate than usual, I'll power down the phone and give it a minute and power it up back up. That almost always restore the phone back to a normal battery drain.

~Yup I was just about to write the same thing.~~

I know we are all eager for the update but I don't think its going to drain everyone's battery before we get the update..

actually downloading the data needed for the update could drain a battery very easily
