A14 memory upgrade

I have a new A14. I got in a Samsung 256 memory upgrade chip and installed it. The phone won't recognize it. I inserted it in the tray with contacts down like the SIM card. Any advice?

Where did you get this 256 GB microSD card? If it was anywhere besides Samsung themselves or a well-respected retailer like Best Buy, I would be concerned about a counterfeit card. You can test it as described here: How to Spot a Fake MicroSD Card and Avoid Being Scammed

Also, where are you looking to see if it's recognized? In the Settings>Storage menu?

If you buy SD cards on Amazon, make sure the seller is Amazon, not a third party.

I bought it on Amazon, sold by Amazon, delivered by Amazon with complete factory packaging. The memory card works fine. It came with a regular SD adapter so I put it in a camera. Works lie a charm without formatting or doing anything. I guess I'll just use it with the camera. Thanks.

Maybe the card came in a format that Android doesn't recognize, like NTFS. Try inserting it into a Windows PC (if you have access to one) and reformat it to FAT32, ext3, ext4, or exFAT.

Thanks but I will abandon the concept and use the memory card elsewhere. The phone should recognize the card regardless of how it is formatted and then either invite me me format it or at least allow me to format it. It should handle a card with no format. Take care.
