A9

I may watch this -- I usually like seeing what is coming out although I don't have much faith in HTC personally.

Okay. I don't care who copied who, but I really love the new HTC. It looks really promising. Especially that brushed Gunmetal Gray color.

Does it look like an iPhone? Yes. Did the iPhone 6 look like the M7? Yes.

I will admit, I hope HTC can turn things around. The last thing I want is for a choice of smartphones to be Samsung or Apple.

The price is amazing. $399 in the US.

Only if the bezels were a little slimmer. I mean, why is the word HTC taking half an inch of the front of this phone? The size of the Bezels matters unfortunately.

I really want HTC to do well this time. I hope they do with this one. Which I'm not sure they will.

I'm in. Preordered a garnet red unlocked A9 for $400...outstanding. it hits all my boxes (finally!)...moderate size screen, fingerprint sensor, OIS camera, 32GB on board plus SD card expandability. Seriously the perfect phone for me. Right now, I switch between a Z3 Compact (for daily use), Asus ZenFone 2 (for gaming and reading), and a Lumia 1020 (for the only thing it's good for...). I think the A9 could get me off the Z3C and the 1020, so my ZF2 could be my dedicated Asphalt 8 machine...

Pre-ordered the same. I have a Nexus 4 and a ZF2. The Nexus 4 still runs fairly smooth, but battery life leaves a ton to desire. The ZF2 I have is the 2GB version. And while I like it I don't quite love it. Not a big fan of ZenUI and its a bit janky at times. I had an M9 for a while, but decided to sell it and I kind of regret that decision although it was probably the right one for me. Just didn't like the SD 810 as it would overheat for me. I know there was a recent update that may have helped with that, but the SD810 was just too much of a concern in the long run. Biggest thing I miss was the smoothness of Sense and sound over earphones. If the A9 approaches the experience provided by the M9 then I'll probably keep it and sell the ZF2.

No Verizon support?

There is a post on one of the "arena" websites suggesting that a future update will allow the A9 to work on Verizon through VoLTE. No comment about whether a device will activate on Verizon, but the idea is you'll be able to take a previously-activated Verizon SIM and drop it in an A9 and have it work.

Is it a one SKU phone like the Nexus 6, Moto X, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P?

The price is not good in UK.

Taken from gsmarena.
"In the UK, the phone is going to cost a whopping £429.99, which right now translates into roughly $664. But wait, that's not all! To add insult to injury, the model that will be sold in the UK will only have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, whereas the US-bound iteration has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage"

This is complete garbage HTC. There are poor people in the UK that might wanna cheap iphone alternative.
Not good.

There UK pricing is nonsensical though the red one is absolutely gorgeous, I have to admit.

There are versions locked to AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Not clear if they are the same SKU though. My guess is that the Sprint version is a different SKU...their network is not ready for VoLTE only.

Spoke to an HTC rep today and he indicated that HTC is very interested in including Verizon customers. Important to HTC's success.

It's a hassle. But you can import an unlocked version.
