AA New bug after Google Maps update

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem as I. Google Maps just released a new update yesterday and now when I use AA everything works fine. Tap the map everything looks good and music also works. After searching for a location and press navigate the app crashes to home screen. When tapping on the infotainment to access AA again it comes up as "No device connected".

Only way to get it back up again is to disconnect phone from USB, access AA on the mobile and cancel the trip in order for the infotainment AA to work again.

Too bad I can't roll back the Google maps update.

Phone: GalaxyS5 Version 6.0.1
Car: Civic 2016 1.8EL

Welcome to the forums as a new member! Have you reported the error to the Google Maps folks, they have a good reporting system. Also, you may be able to roll back by sideloading an older version from APKMirror, but I would wait for a fix as that would be the better choice. Good first post btw, good detail!

Maybe it's not a bug. You have to keep in mind, our phone apps update much faster than the system in your car. New updates on apps are going to support newer technology. It may just be that your car just isn't current enough to handle the update by Google Maps.

I am having the same problem since couple of days, I have a CR-V 2017 and Motox play running Marshmallow 6.0.1. Everything else works fine, music, phone calls, messages and voice commands, but once I select the route and try to start turn by turn navigation, it crashes. If I try to go into AA again on the car display it says No device connected. May be we can find the working version of Maps and install it to see if that helps ? The maps version I have is 9.56.1.

I have the opposite experience. Before this latest Maps update, I often got Maps app stuck in AA mode after I disconnect from the car until I manually force stop the AA. Everything works fine u month or two ago. This latest Maps app fixed this problem for me. So this update is to fix a bug for the previous release but managed to break for others. No surprises there.

Same exact issue on my 2017 Honda Clarity. Worked great yesterday, then the update came in and bang - as soon as I start directions it crashes!

You can turn off auto updates in the app store. Then go into settings>apps>map>force stop
Then uninstall updates.

ISSUE FIX!

Google Maps version 9.56.1 is what's causing AA Navigation to crash on the infotainment system.
Quick fix solution is to uninstall google maps turn off auto update from Play Store and install google maps version 9.55.1 using the following link ( Google Maps 9.55.1 (955100020) APK Download - AndroidAPKsFree )

This will temporarily solve your issues until Google Maps has a fix for the next update.

Credit goes to: PJRed2008 for apk reference.
Karthik for Google Maps version.
Pejorative for instructions to disable auto update and uninstall of google maps.

Honda still does not have an OS update for the infotainment so if for some reason this issue does not get resolved from the source. There is an alternative solution using a 5 minute D.I.Y Y-Socket to unlock your touch screen to mirror your mobile without losing warranty. Everything will work except for that awesome feature that gives you directions and distance on your dashboard.

Reference in Thai language but skip to near the end to see the features of the Y-Socket and Novel connecter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY3A0YjET_8&t=88s

I'M experiencing the same exact problem since the last update and I have a 2017 Honda CR-V.

Navigation worked wonderfully for the past few weeks and now this. So no, it's not an old car issue!

I am having the exact same problem on my new 2017 C-RV. I reverted back to the last version of google maps at sammachielsen86's suggestion. Seems to be working now. Since I turned off auto updates, does anybody know how we will know if the problem gets fixed?

New AA update just pushed out today. Maybe that will resolve this crash issue with Honda HU.

The latest version I am seeing on my Galaxy S6 is maps version 9.56.1, which was the version that caused the problem. Is there a newer version than that? Do you have a link to the Android Police conversation?
