Absolutely regret buying this phone

I don't know why I'm writing here, but I need to let out some steem! Before I buy a phone, I always do a allot of research. Before buying the s7 edge, it wasn't any different. I read tons of reviews and went to the store multiple times and tried the phone. Reviews were very good and phone seemed allright considering I wasn't always happy about TouchWiz . I've had the phone for 4 months now, and it's been 4 long months. The speed, or should I say lack of speed, of s7 edge is ridiculously slow. I'm baffled by it. 4 GB of RAM, and this is the best Samsung can do? Battery life is also awfull considering 3600 mAh . Touch is pretty awful to, phone doesn't react some times. I totally regret getting this phone, and I'll buy a new one, probably try Huawei for the first time. Mate9 pro looks pretty decent. Sorry for the long post, needed to get this frustration out!

Hey, can't please everyone. I absolutely love my Edge, and have no issues with speed at all.

Good luck with your phone search. :)

My S7 edge has been nothing but fast. Not sure what you're expecting, but maybe you should try a hard reset. It sounds like there's something wrong with your phone.

I had the s7 edge for about 8 months with no issue... Sold it for Axon 7 as wanted more internal storage

I really don't know. Just think that Samsung isn't for me. Switched with a friend for a couple of days, and it felt the same. He on the other hand, said that he didn't see anything wrong with my phone. I came from a LG G2 and it felt faster and also battery life felt better? I really dislike TouchWiz! But I'm glad that there's nothing wrong with the phone - just me 😂

Just use a different launcher. Samsung sets their animations to a slower more relaxed speed compared to stock. So it may 'feel' slower. Plus they have more animations. Just adjust animation speed and use a different launcher from TouchWiz. I'm actually running the phone with CPU limiting since I don't really need all that power and I see no slow down.

Or try turning the animation scale off or to 0.5x in developer settings.

Wow, just tried this and what a difference. I didn't have a problem with the speed/snappiness before, but this is like a brand new phone. Animations off felt a little awkward, but .5 seems fantastic.

You must of bought a knock off. The S7 Edge I have is the best phone I've ever owned. If you don't like it go buy something else.

Sorry to hear about your sub-par experience.

I have used an Edge before and while it's not the fastest phone out there (Samsung's long animations are responsible for that), it's much better than past Samsungs which would lag severely after just a few months of use.

Have you done anything to the device in the past 4 months? If so, I would consider backing up anything important and doing a full reset. If you still get performance issues, your device may have an problem and might require an RMA.

If you're not comfortable with Sammy, that Mate 9 is a solid choice. I have also used the Mate 9 Pro and it really is pretty good.

There are solutions to cure battery life and speed... if you are willing to provide details on your apps, usage, permissions. AC members certainly can lend a hand.... no need to rant.

Rants don't solve anything... root cause and corrective action does.

I am very happy with my device. I got it during the fire sale that T-Mobile had a month and change ago.
I had a S7 that I got on launch day last year but got rid off it after a month, for some reason it felt heavy and bulky with the case(s) that I had.

I am partial to blue and so grabbed the Coral Blue S7edge a few weeks back and slapped on a clear Luvvitt case with a IQ shield film screen protector. Phone weight feels more balanced and I installed the Android N update as soon as I pulled the device out of the box.

I didn't find it to be slow but after turning off the animations, all I can say is wow, this thing just flies.

I consistently get 4+ hours of SOT which is fine enough for me considering that my office is basically a Faraday cage with barely any signal.

Overall I am quite happy with this device.

I wish I could go to the locations of these people who say the S7 Edge is slow or has bad battery life to see it for myself. I want to see if they got stuck with a bad device, or if they're running weird background apps or weak signals. Or if their definition of slow is something different than mine.

Because this phone is anything but slow. It's the most robust phone Samsung has built to date.

Indeed, same here!

I feel bad for the people who are not able to enjoy this device the way the rest of us are.

Unfortunately a lot of the factors you pointed out play a major role in how the device is for different people.

One of the major factors on speed and Battery life is Poor Signal, poor signal can make the phone work harder and reduce speed and Battery life. This one issue that is difficult to fix.

Another issue may be that the OP is using things like Google Now heavily or they have a lot off apps trying to access their location etc...

So much that could be wrong that I usually avoid threads like this as you could literally sit for weeks trying to figure it out with the OP, no offense to the OP.

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

If you don't list actual timings or post videos showing the purported lag, it's hard to know if your phone is slow or if you're just impatient. Does the battery-use monitor suggest any rogue apps? Is the phone any better if you boot it in safe mode?

Regarding touch sensitivity, I think the phone sometimes gets confused when your hand curls around the screen edges. Try holding it with a flatter grip and see if that helps.
