Did you try changing it on a desktop site? I think the mobile site has issues with changing account settings.

I moved your thread to the 'site feedback' forum. As mentioned by Golfdriver97, there were a few issues with avatars that were fixed, but there is still a glitch with adding/changing them with the app. Please try and make your change through our website instead of the app for now.
